There are many reasons why a credit card payment could be declined. All declines are made by the card-issuing bank, not the payment software. If your card is declined, you will need to contact your bank or card issuer directly. It is recommended that you call the 1-800 number on the back of your card for support.

Declined: Declined
This means that the card holder's credit card company has blocked the transaction. Have the client call the 1-800 number on the back of the card and find out why.

Declined: Insufficient Funds
The cardholder has exceeded their credit limit or will exceed the limit if this payment is submitted. The cardholder does not have enough money in their account.
Address Verification Error
The cardholder has likely entered the incorrect billing zip code or street address. The Address Verification Settings (AVS) are set by the merchant to prevent fraud. Call the 1-800 number on the back the Credit Card to confirm your billing zip code.
DECLINED: Declined CVV
The CVV Code entered does not match what is on the card. Please re-enter the CVV code and try again.

Hold, Call or Pick Up Card
This means that the card holder's credit card company has blocked the transaction. There is a problem with the card. It has been marked for fraud. The card has been lost or stolen. Please call the 1-800 number on the back of the card to determine the issue.
Decline: Do not honor
The customer's credit card company is telling you not to honor the card. There is a problem with their account or they don't recognize the billing address on file. Add the cardholder's correct billing address to the Billing Info and try the card one more time. If it continues to decline, call the 800 number on the back of the card to find out why.
Declined - Restricted
This means the cardholder has been travelling or has used their card outside of their normal spending habits. This comes directly from the card-issuing bank. The cardholder can contact the number on the back of the card to find specific details. The cardholder can also confirm with the card-issuing bank if the card can be re-tried or if another payment method should be used.
Decline - Invalid Transaction
Please verify that you are typing in the credit card information correctly and run the transaction again.
Card No. Error
Account number entered incorrectly (bad swipe or mistyped).
No Reply
The card holder's bank is not replying to the credit card transaction. Try waiting and then rerunning the transaction.
Expired Card
Expired card.
Transaction not permitted
The bank that has issued this card does not allow this type of purchase. Have the client call the 800 number on the back of their card for further explanation.
Decline: Exceeds issuer withdrawal limit.
The card cannot be used until withdrawal limit has been increased/lifted.
Decline: Activity limit exceeded.
The card cannot be used for the purchase.
No Reply
The card holder's bank is not replying to the credit card transaction. Try waiting and then rerunning the transaction.
Decline: Violation, cannot complete.
Have the customer call the 800 number on the back of the card to determine the issue.
System Malfunction
The card issuing bank is having a system malfunction and is declining the transaction attempt. Cardholder must contact the Issuing Bank.
No Such Issuer
This is not a legitimate credit card. Obtain new payment details
Declined - Invalid account number
It's an invalid account number. More than likely the result of the cardholder closing the account or the bank issuing a new card.
DECLINED: Stop Reoccuring
The client has contacted their card institution and requested a block for all re-occurring billing charges to this card. You will need to contact your client directly to request that they remove this block or get a new card from them.
DECLINED: No Credit Acct
The client has an invalid card, it can be that the cardholder was issued another card and is using an old, deactivated card.
DECLINED: Invalid Card
Please verify that you are typing in the credit card information correctly and run the transaction again.
DECLINED: Invalid account number:

Voice Authorization is required. Call the 800 number on the back of the card.

DECLINED: Serv Not Allowed
The customer's credit card company does not allow them to purchase products from your business type. The card cannot be used to purchase from your business.
